Kentucky is known worldwide for their bourbon, but power couple Sean and Tia Edwards are bringing a new face to the industry. This Lexington,Kentucky couple are the first black owned bourbon distillery owners in Kentucky. “As we went through the process we found out there were no African-American distilleries in the state of Kentucky. There had been no African-American producing bourbon that weren’t slaves,” says Sean Edwards.
Fresh Bourbon Distilling Co. is the name of this Black-Owned distillery. They plan on building this multi-million dollar black owned business network later in 2020. The location hasn’t been released, but they have said it will be about 34,000 square feet, with a taproom, multiple theaters, & lounge areas. They have already started producing their bourbon in Paris,Kentucky. Let’s congratulate this black owned business in Kentucky.
