Missy Elliott is the first female artist inducted into The Hall of Fame. Her nomination was originally announced back in November 2018. In 2017, Jay Z became the first rapper to be inducted and now Missy Elliott is the first female rapper. Via twitter Missy Elliott stated, “I want to congratulate all the amazing songwriters who have been inducted into the 2019 songwriters hall of fame. Also those who were nominated because their body of work is amazing. I am so humbly grateful to now be inducted. I love you all!”
The ceremony will take place on June 13th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel In New York City. Some of the songs that include Missy’s songwriting and collaborations are; Beyoncé (“Signs”), Whitney Houston (“In My Business”), Destiny’s Child (“Confessions”), Mary J.Blige (“I Never Been”).
